The
use of way wipers in the protection of slideways of machine tools is an issue
which has raised considerable interest among the designers and manufacturers of such
machines. Slideways are now subjected to higher forces due to the improved
performance of the cutting tools, cutting feed rates and rapid traverse rates.
Our extensive experience has facilitated
the development of a way wiper in an elastic material which, more efficiently than any other type, performs the task of keeping slideways clear of swarf, dust and all other abrasive materials found in the workshop environment.
The VAJ Way Wiper is the result of long, continuous research, which besides guaranteeing efficient cleaning of the slideways, increases the value of
the machines. The way wipers are manufactured from synthetic rubber resistant to mineral oils and cooling emulsions, with a
vulcanized metal reinforced face. The metal face of the way wiper can also be supplied in stainless
steel or brass.
Way Wipers are supplied:

In standard strips so that they can be easily adapted to the shapes of the slideways to be cleaned.

To customers own designs, normally in one piece so that they can be mounted quickly and therefore economically to lathes, Milling Machines, Drilling Machines, Machining centers and many other forms of metal cutting machines.
There is no doubt that designers and manufacturers can use VAJ Way Wipers in their designs and in their machine builds, confident of finding a tried and tested product which (eliminate although on a modest scale) has made and continues to make a valid contribution to improving the slideways of machine tools.
The Standard Strip Way Wiper
The way wiper can be cut and drilled to compose different shapes. They are built in synthetic rubber with metal facing;

Way Wipers to drawing
 VAJ patented
way wipers are constructed to the customer's drawing in any shape and dimension, and in a single piece, complete with mounting holes and holes allowing for taper gib adjustment. The minimum quantity required is 100 pieces. For smaller quantities it may be possible to offer a customer an adaptation from an existing
way wiper design considering the many designs already in
existence. It is essential, however, that we have the drawings of the slideways to be cleaned. |
Way Wipers for screws
 Way
Wipers are also manufactured for both trapezoidal screw thread and recirculating
ball screws. These way wipers consist of a metal support in which a short section of thread of a slightly smaller diameter is reproduced, in the rubber, so that the screw is cleaned as it passes through. |

Wipers are built in synthetic rubber; those strips are without metal facing, therefore
the way wipers are flexible;

Any of our "A" style wipers (except A6) can be produced without the metal facing. |
Way Wipers for telescopic covers
These Way Wipers are constructed in strips in a standard length of 560 mm. They can be fitted to the sections of the covers either by welding, riveting or screwing. Because
the way wipers edges are smooth they can be adapted perfectly to the sheet metal surfaces. On request
way wipers can be manufactured to the customers own designs and marked with the appropriate part number.
